Melanism

Melanism is a mutation that turns a lion's coat a dark black or dark brown. Melanistic lions are either black or brown, and always have black flesh. They have either brown, amber, or yellow eyes. All markings show on melanistic coats, however white cannot be present on the design unless Piebald is present.

Guidelines

►Lions with Melanism must have dark-colored flesh

​►Markings must be relative to the base coat, and may not be too saturated

►Base coats must be taken from the provided Melanistic swatches

►White may not be used in the design unless Piebald is present
