Chimerism
Genetic chimerism or a chimera is a Nemeion with two distinct genotypes. In animals, this means an individual derived from two or more zygotes, both of which containing different DNA. In the cat world Chimerism often shows up as a patchy marking on calico felines or tortoiseshell cats.
Designing a Chimera
When you receive your geno, it will look something like this:
1 cub was born.
A cub was bestowed a rare gift.
Cub number 1, a Female, is a Tan coat with amber eyes and the following inherited markings:
Habitu Livorem
The cub was born with the following mutation(s): Chimerism
Now, let's design both sides of the chimera. Here you see two completely different Nemeion zygotes.
The left design is a carrier of Habitu, even though it does not show on the design. Hereditary markings to not need to be displayed on the cat if you don't want them to be. Both Nemeion by themselves are completely unique. To create a combined version of them we must first overlay one of the designs on top of the other in our design template and erase different parts of the design to create a chimera. Here is an example below:
Guidelines
►Chimerism should not be used to mimic other markings or create a polka dot effect
►You must keep track of every marking you use on both sides of your design, and make sure to include them in the template
►If a lion has Piebald as a hereditary marking, piebald will cover both sides on top of the entire chimera design
