This year, the Carnival of Souls trembles beneath the weight of an uninvited guest. From the shadows of the mortal world, Medusa has slithered her way into Hades’ realm, her serpents hissing in defiance as she dares to disrupt his revelry. Lanterns flicker uneasily as her presence turns laughter sharp and uneasy; souls whisper of shattered statues hidden among the tents, frozen mid-dance by her venomous gaze. Hades, unamused by her intrusion, has risen from his throne to remind her who rules the dead. Their clash is whispered to shake the very bones of the carnival itself — and those who attend may find themselves caught between godly wrath and gorgon spite.
This year we have two shops available, as well as two event currencies. Teeth may be used to purchase from Hades' Obsidian Vault, and Scales may be used to purchase from Medusa's Serpent Menagerie.
───── Carnival Prompts ─────
Draw or write about your Nemeion completing any of the following prompts below.
General Guidelines
🍁 You need to own or lease a Nemeion to participate.
🍁 You can commission and collaborate entries.
🍁 When choosing the "Free for All" prompt, entries must have some sort of a spooky theme.
🍁 You may enter this event as many times as you wish. There are no daily limits.
🍁 Up to three (3) Nemeion may be rolled in each entry. Others may be included, but only three can be rolled for rewards.
Artwork Guidelines
🍁 All Nemeion depicted must be full-body, colored, and at least 75% visible to count for rewards.
🍁 You must include a simple background with 3 - 4 unique element types (rocks, trees, flowers, pinecones, crops, buildings, etc). You can find a breakdown of simple vs. complex in the Adventure page.
🍁 Images must be a minimum of 300 x 300 px to qualify.
🍁 Black and white images are allowed as long as they are clean, shaded, and all Nemeion and elements are well defined.
Literature Guidelines
🍁 Literature must be a minimum of 900 words. Nemeion must be on task and mentioned by name at least 3 times to qualify. Collaborated entries must be a minimum of 1,400 words with equal parts between collaborators.
Prompt #1 - Masquerade of the Damned
Step beyond the veil and into the Masquerade of the Damned, where every mask conceals more than just a face. The flicker of lanternlight glints off ivory fangs and painted smiles, and the laughter that fills the air never quite drowns out the whispers of the dead. Here, revelers don disguises spun from nightmare and shadow, tempting fate with each elaborate creation. Is that a costume, or the ghost of what you once were? Draw or write about your Nemeion participating in a Masquerade Ball held by the God Hades. Your Nemeion should be in some form of a costume.
Prompt #2 - Dissent into Darkness
You have fallen to Hades' call, and have joined the ranks of his monsters as a Hellion of the Underworld. Your task? You must inflict chaos and punishment on the world by any means necessary. What is your first order of business? Do you set fire to the villages? Do you snatch cubs from their mothers? What do you do with the power of evil, and can you be saved?
Prompt #3 - Colosseum of Chaos
Hades has released his biggest monstrosity into the Colosseum! The mightiest of his monsters, the hydra, is leaving a wake of destruction across the entire arena. No one has been courageous enough to face this horrific hydra, and the Caesar has grown desperate. The Caesar is pleading for aid! Will you rise to the challenge? Can you outwit this massive monster, or are you doomed to fall to its fangs?
Prompt #4 - The Garden of Stone
Rumors have spread through the Carnival that Medusa has planted a “garden” deep in the city—a twisted display where her victims stand frozen in eternal poses, draped with carnival silks and lanterns. The gorgon invites the bold to walk among her statues and leave their mark. Depict your Nemeion venturing into Medusa’s eerie garden. Do they wander curiously among the statues, attempt to free one, or risk gazing too long at her serpents? Perhaps they add their own offering to her display—a mask, a flower, or even a rival turned to stone.

Will you kneel to the Reign of Hades, the shadowed king whose throne anchors the Underworld, or embrace the Ruin sown by Medusa, whose serpents strike with defiance and spite? Each mask, each offering, each whispered prayer tips the scales. Those who swear to Hades stand beneath his mantle of order and dominion, bound by oaths of shadow and flame. Those who follow Medusa revel in chaos, carving freedom from stone and daring to mock the god of death himself. The Carnival has become more than a festival—it is a battlefield of faith. Choose carefully, for once the mask is donned, your allegiance may carry you to glory… or seal your fate in ruin.

───── Bone Lottery ─────
The Bone Lottery lures the daring with the promise of prizes buried deep within death’s rattle. Each bone clutched in your hands carries the chill of the Styx, a fragment of some forgotten soul. Gather enough pieces and you may stitch together a skeleton, though whether it rises as a loyal guardian, a restless shade, or simply a grim token of Hades’ amusement is never certain. The bones do not lie quiet, nor do they ever leave you without leaving their mark.
───── How To Participate ─────── Players may submit bones to earn tickets towards a special raffle. During the event's completion, this raffle will be rolled, and three (3) lucky winners will receive an exclusive genotype. This genotype will have Hades as the sire and Medusa as the dam.

General Guidelines
🍁 You need to own or lease a Nemeion to participate.
🍁 Everyone may submit one (1) entry to each Feral. You can only win one.
🍁 You cannot collab taming entries; You can commission them, however.
🍁 You may "double dip" your entry and submit your tame as an activity entry as well (as long as the piece follows general Adventure rules). To do so, submit your tame to your chosen Feral below AND to the Adventure journal (found on the website home page).
